Flo, the Artistic Spider

One normal day in spider country, well at least not for Flo the spider. You see today was Flo’s 10th birthday and when it was time to blow out the candles and make a wish, Flo knew exactly what to wish for. Flo always thought it would be cool to be an artist except she kept her dream a secret. Tonight, though she was going to share her dream with her parents. She said, “I wish to be an artist” and blew out the candles. Her parents were surprised. They needed to tell her something. They sat Flo down on the couch and her parents said, “Flo spiders can’t do art.” Flo laughed. She thought they were joking. Flo went upstairs and dropped down on her web bed. They must be joking, Flo thought. She would do art right then and there. She grabbed paper, paints and a paintbrush and got to work. At first, she tried to use the paintbrush on the paper, but her claws made it awkward to create what was in her head. So, she tried to pick it up with her teeth, but the paint brush broke in two. Then she dipped her feet in the paints and walked over the page, but it didn’t look right. “What if mom and dad were not joking, what if spiders cannot do art,” Flo said. She looked at the spider webs in the corner of her room. She always had a talent for spider web making. They were so cute, almost like a piece of art. Then she realized that she had been doing art all along! She got straight to work on her first masterpiece. It took Flo all day and all night but when she finished it was a little messy, but it still said “Flo” in big letters in the middle of a gigantic spider web. After that day, Flo did art everywhere she went. Spiders sometimes stopped to look at her art. Even Flo’s parents stopped to look, and they were sorry they doubted her. One time the guy hosting the fall festival called Flo and said, “Can you draw a huge picture of pumpkins for the fall festival?” Flo answered “YES!” excitedly. When Flo was finished it was definitely the best picture she ever drew, and everyone loved it. Spiders loved Flo’s artwork so much they built a spider web gallery where spiders would look at Flo’s art. At first, only Flo’s artwork was in it, but soon more spiders were inspired by Flo. Flo was very happy and that is the story of Flo the artistic spider!!!!!
